Facebook First Step To After IPO Success – Zuckerberg Gets Married Steve Jobs Style
Behind every successful man is a woman and behind her is his wife – Groucho Marx
Guess what? Facebook first step to after IPO success is not the acquisition of Zynga or thinking of ways to woo Madison Avenue. Instead its Mr. Zuckerberg’s desire to get his wife behind the most important woman in his life. There is no doubt that one of the most important people behind the success of Facebook today is its Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg. Mrs. Sandberg, aged 42 essentially oversees all aspects of the firm’s business operations including sales, marketing, human resources, public policy and communications. So in the lead up to the launch of the Facebook IPO which opened at an extremely high price of $38 valuing the company at $104 billion, Mr. Zuckerberg probably felt that he needed to quickly get the missing lady into his life.
Less than 48 hours after the launch of the Facebook IPO, Zuck made sure that he had lady luck on his side. In a ceremony and event that would have even done Steve Jobs proud, Mark got married to his longtime girlfriend, Priscilla Chan in stealth fashion. In what appeared to be a carefully planned event similar to Apple’s product announcements, the Facebook chief revealed the news to the world by adding the event to his timeline.
The only time I’ve had breaking news via fb, was news that zuckerberg is married. That would have been ironic to learn via twitter.

The most noticeable comment post the event actually came from Mark’s sister, Arielle Zuckerberg who updated her Facebook Status as
The marriage ceremony was held on 19 May in the backyard of their modest home in Palo Alto, California, with fewer than 100 people in attendance. Guests arrived believing they were attending a graduation party for Chan, who graduated from medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, on May 14. Upon arriving, they learned they were actually attending a wedding. That was surely one hell of a surprise for the visitors as well as all his followers on Facebook. News of the event made a big splash on social media, particularly on twitter which saw a number of funny comments about the marriage go viral.
As per reports Mr and Mrs Zuck had been planning the event for the past four-five months. The couple met as undergraduates at Harvard University in 2004. While Zuckerberg famously dropped out of college to work on Facebook, Chan, a pediatrician, stayed to earn her undergraduate degree in 2007.
Let’s get this straight. He rang the Nasdaq bell and the wedding bell? #showoff”

Post marriage there is still no news on whether the Zuckerberg’s have a pre-nuptial agreement in place. If they do have one it could affect Mark’s stake in the company and fortune as a Businessman. Well, now that Facebook first step to after IPO success has been taken it remains to be seen how the stock will perform for the rest of 2012. Even if it manages to do stay above its launch price of $38 it would have done very well.
