Bollywood Movies To Lookout for As 2011 Draws to a Close
As 2011 gradually moves into its final phases and the festive season starts to arrive, anticipation of what awaits audiences and movie buffs for the remainder of the year is also on a high. A look back at the last few years and one can see a clear trend that the biggest and most hyped movies of the year are released around Diwali and Christmas to make the most of the positive consumer sentiment.
Shahrukh Khan released two of his recent blockbusters in Om Shanti Om (2007) and Rab Ne Bana Jodi (2008) close to Diwali and Christmas while Aamir Khan is also known for releasing his movies around Christmas (3 Idiots, Taare Zameen Par). So what can audiences expect in 2011, of course there is the much hyped Shahrukh Khan starrer Ra One which has set its expectations to astronomical levels. SRK has been releasing short glimpses of the movie since the Cricket World Cup and whether the movie does well or not it is sure to make back most of its money in the week of its release.
Apart from Ra One there are two other movies to watch out for during the remainder of this year. We take a sneak peek at these two potential blockbusters
Releasing on the same day as the $ 115,000 million Hollywood action flick Immortals, Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar may well prove to be his finest film so far. The film will have a special appeal for fans of Shammi Kapoor as it will see him share screen space with Ranbir for the first and last time.
The movie will also mark the debut of the half Pakistani – half Czech, American model from New York, Nargis Fakhri who like Deepika Padukone has been a regular on the Indian fashion and modeling circuit.
The first look of the film has received positive reviews and heightened interest from the media. Will 11-11-11 prove to be lucky for Rockstar, lets wait and watch.
In less than two months after the release of Ra One, Shahrukh Khan will be back on screen with the sequel to his remake of Don. With Don 2, the self proclaimed Badshah of Bollywood who can even sell his soul for the right amount of money has booked the big dates of Diwali and Christmas for his movies. Don 2 might also be the first Bollywood film to be released in 3D.
With two back to back films in a short span of time both of which might well have the same theme, it remains to be seen if audiences will be able relish and appreciate Don 2.
Apart from Rockstar and Don 2, early January 2012 will also see Karan Johar’s remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s Agneepath with Hrithik Roshan in the lead role hit the screens. 2012 though is still a few months away and has its own set of blockbusters to look forward to.
